Art & Design at Blackfield

At Blackfield Primary and Nursery School, we believe Art & Design gives children the opportunity to explore their creativity, express their individuality and develop confidence in their own ideas.

Our curriculum enables children to explore and experiment with a wide range of materials, techniques and artistic styles. As they progress through the school, children develop their skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printing and other creative techniques, using sketchbooks to explore ideas, practise techniques, reflect and develop their work.

Children encounter a range of artists, designers and architects, learning about different styles, cultures and periods of history. We encourage children to look closely at the work of others, form their own opinions and use what they discover to inspire their own creativity.

We want children to see themselves as artists: willing to explore, create, reflect and express their own ideas.
