Pupil Voice
At Blackfield Primary School we have a whole-school commitment to listening to the views, wishes and experiences of all the pupils. To do this, we have an elected School Council representative in each class as well as selected Pupil Leadership Team which consists of two pupil leaders and a group of supporting pupils, all from Year 6.
The Pupil Leadership Team are the leaders of the School Council and each year they visit the Houses of Parliament to find out what it really takes to lead a large group of people. They listen to the pupils in the school via weekly drop ins, organise community events and lead fundraising initiatives. The Pupil Leadership Team have a member of the teaching staff who they report to each month to initiate any ideas or discuss any issues which impact the children.
An example of the impact of the Pupil Leadership Team and School Council are:
- Fundraising for a Harry Potter Reading Bus
- Making changes to the lunch time menu
- Fundraising and selecting playground equipment
- Leading a community litter pick
- Leading 'Random Acts of Kindness' initiatives
- Raising over 400kg of food for the local Foodbank
Queen's Canopy:
Here's our school council and Pupil Leadership Team helping New Forest District Council plant over 300 trees to make the late Queen's Jubilee.
