Computing at Blackfield
At Blackfield Primary and Nursery School, we want children to become confident, creative and responsible users of technology, equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to participate successfully in an increasingly digital world.
Our Computing curriculum develops children's understanding across computer science, information technology and digital literacy. Children learn how to programme, create and debug code, use technology purposefully to create and communicate, and develop their computational thinking and problem-solving skills.
Technology is also used meaningfully across the wider curriculum, giving children opportunities to apply their digital skills for real purposes. As children progress through the school, they learn to select and use increasingly sophisticated digital tools and communicate their ideas in different ways.
A fundamental part of our curriculum is ensuring that children understand how to use technology safely, responsibly and respectfully. We teach children to think critically about online content, protect their personal information, make responsible choices and know what to do when something online concerns them.
