FAB FM Radio Station

At Blackfield, we believe that children should have opportunities to find their voice, express their ideas and communicate with confidence. Our very own radio station, FAB FM, gives children an exciting and purposeful way to develop these skills.

The radio studio is used by children during break and lunchtimes, giving them the opportunity to become presenters and DJs. Children plan what they want to say, prepare scripts and questions, practise speaking clearly for an audience and, of course, choose some great music to play!

FAB FM is also used to interview children, staff and special guests about interesting topics and events. These experiences give children a real purpose for speaking and listening, helping them develop their oracy, confidence, questioning and communication skills in a way that is engaging and relevant to them.

On Air at FAB FM

From school news and pupil interviews to conversations with special guests, our young broadcasters get opportunities to put their communication skills into practice. Sometimes they even put Mr Sasso in the hot-seat!
