Joining Our Nursery
We would love to welcome your child to Blackfield Nursery.
Choosing the right Nursery is an important decision, so families are warmly encouraged to come and visit us, meet our team and see our Nursery in action before applying.
If you would like to arrange a visit, please contact the school office and we will be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
Applying for a Nursery Place
Applications for Blackfield Nursery are made directly to the school.
Our simple online application form allows you to tell us about your child and the sessions you are interested in. Once we receive your application, a member of our team will contact you regarding availability and the next steps.

Starting Nursery
We want every child's start at Blackfield to be happy and positive.
Before your child begins, our Nursery team will work with you to help us get to know them and understand their individual needs, interests and routines. Children are supported carefully as they become familiar with their key person, the Nursery environment and the rhythms of their day.
Because our Nursery is part of the wider school, children quickly become part of the Blackfield community too.
Need a longer day?
Children aged 3+ can access before and after-school care on site through our wraparound-care provider, Planet Kids.
This can make Blackfield particularly convenient for working families, with children able to move between Nursery and wraparound care without needing to travel to another setting.

Moving on to Reception
For children who subsequently join Blackfield Reception, there is a real advantage in already knowing the school.
Our Nursery Manager works closely with our Early Years Phase Leader and Reception team throughout the year. Children become familiar with the wider school environment, staff and routines, helping to make the eventual move into Reception as smooth and reassuring as possible.
Please note: A place at Blackfield Nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception at Blackfield Primary and Nursery School. Applications for Reception are made separately through the local authority admissions process.
