PE at Blackfield
At Blackfield Primary and Nursery School, we want every child to develop a lifelong love of physical activity and understand the importance of leading a healthy, active life.
Our PE curriculum is ambitious and inclusive, giving all children opportunities to develop their physical skills, confidence and enjoyment of sport, regardless of their starting point, ability or additional needs. Children progressively develop fundamental movement skills including running, jumping, throwing and catching, alongside their agility, balance, coordination, strength and control.
Through a wide range of games, sports, dance and physical activities, children learn to apply their skills both individually and as part of a team. They experience competition, develop tactics, evaluate their own performance and learn how practice and perseverance can help them improve.
PE at Blackfield is also about developing the whole child. Through our Real PE approach, children develop personal, social, cognitive and creative skills alongside their physical development. They learn to cooperate, communicate, lead, encourage others, respond positively to challenge and develop resilience when things don't go to plan.
Above all, we want children to leave Blackfield with the skills, confidence and positive attitudes needed to remain physically active throughout their lives.
