Communication
We believe that strong communication between home and school is an important part of supporting children successfully.
We email parents through Arbor and use ClassDojo as our main communication platform for sharing school and class information with families. Important whole-school information is also communicated directly to parents when required.
If you need to discuss your child's learning, wellbeing or anything happening in school, their class teacher should usually be your first point of contact, which you can do by email the school office. Our school office team can also help direct your enquiry to the right member of staff.
Term Dates
Our school term dates are published in advance to help families plan for the academic year.
Blackfield Primary and Nursery School is part of the Inspire Learning Partnership and our term dates may differ from those of other Hampshire schools.

The School Day
The school day begins at 8:35am for all pupils. Our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 playground gates open from 8:25am, allowing children to arrive and be ready for the start of the school day.

- Reception, Year 1 and Year 2: 32 hours 55 minutes
- Years 3–6: 34 hours 10 minutes
Vehicle Access
For the safety of our children and families, there is a no-drive period on the school grounds at the beginning and end of the school day:
- Morning: 8:15am – 8:45am
- Afternoon: 3:00pm – 3:35pm
School Meals
Children can enjoy a freshly prepared schools meals, which are cooked on site by our own catering team each day, or bring a packed lunch from home.
Our school kitchen provides a varied menu, with children able to choose from the options available each day. Information about dietary requirements and allergies should be shared with the school so that appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

Uniform
We expect all children to wear our school uniform. Our uniform is simple, practical and helps children feel proud to belong to the Blackfield community.
Children should wear their school uniform each day, except on their designated PE days when they should come to school wearing their PE kit for the whole day.
Branded Blackfield uniform can be purchased from Skoolkit in Totton or online. Families do not need to purchase every item with a school logo; our full Uniform Policy explains the required uniform and the options available.
We recognise that replacing uniform can be an additional expense for families. If you need support with school uniform, please contact the school office — we will always be happy to help.

Payments
The easiest way to pay for school dinners, clubs & trips is online through the Arbor Parent Portal. You can sign in here or by downloading the Arbor Parent Portal App.

Friends of Blackfield – Our PTA
Friends of Blackfield Primary School (FOBS) is our Parent Teacher Association. FOBS works closely with the school to organise fun events for our children and families, while raising additional funds to support the school.
From Freeze Pop Fridays and second-hand uniform sales to larger events throughout the year, FOBS is a great way to get involved in our school community.
