Trips & Residentials

Trips & Residentials

At Blackfield Primary and Nursery School, we believe that some of the most memorable learning happens beyond the classroom.

Trips, visits and first-hand experiences are an important part of our curriculum. Throughout their time at Blackfield, children have opportunities to visit museums, places of worship, theatres, historical sites, outdoor learning centres and places within our local community. These experiences are carefully chosen to enrich children's learning, bring the curriculum to life and give them opportunities to experience places and activities beyond their everyday lives.

Our local area is an important resource too. Children explore Blackfield, the New Forest and the wider Southampton and Hampshire area, helping them make meaningful connections between what they learn in school and the world around them.

Our Residential Offer

We are particularly proud of our residential programme. As children move through Key Stage 2, they have opportunities to experience residential visits which develop independence, resilience, confidence and teamwork, while creating memories with their friends that can last well beyond primary school.

Our usual residential programme includes:

Year 4 – Swanage Residential
Children's first school residential experience, introducing them to staying away from home with their classmates.

Year 5 – Calshot Residential
An exciting outdoor learning experience giving children opportunities to challenge themselves, work together and develop their independence.

Year 6 – Tile Barn Residential
A longer residential experience towards the end of children's time at Blackfield, combining outdoor adventure, teamwork and the opportunity to celebrate their primary school journey together.

Accessibility and Cost

We want these experiences to be accessible to all children. Where financial circumstances may make participation difficult, we encourage families to speak confidentially with the school so that we can explore what support may be available.
